SESA Institute Continues Its Academic Activities in China

Researchers from the Women’s Studies Department of SESA Institute Began Their Work in Beijing within the Scope of the Joint Academic Programme with China Women’s University

 

Researchers from the Women’s Studies Department of SESA Institute, together with officials from the Women’s Branch of the Turkish-Chinese Association, Ms. Handan Boyar and Ms. Şerife Özlem Gedik, participated in a high-level international academic programme held in the cities of Beijing and Wenzhou in the People’s Republic of China.

The international seminar entitled “Seminar on Leadership Capacity Building for Female Officials from Developing Countries,” hosted by China Women’s University between 21 May and 3 June 2026, brings together a total of 26 female representatives from Türkiye, as well as Egypt, The Gambia, South Sudan, Rwanda, Armenia, and Tonga.

The opening of the programme was held at the International Conference Hall of China Women’s University through the joint opening ceremony of four international seminars conducted simultaneously. The opening address was delivered by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Liqun Liu.

Within the scope of the programme, which constitutes an important international academic engagement for SESA Institute, academic sessions, workshops, and field visits are being organised on themes such as women’s leadership, public administration, development policies, innovation in higher education, international cooperation, social development, and the role of women in global governance processes.

Throughout the programme, participants are attending various presentations and training sessions on China’s development model, higher education system, scientific research and innovation infrastructure, and the role of women in social and economic development. In addition, through field visits conducted in Beijing and Wenzhou, China’s local development practices, institutional structures, and social policy mechanisms are being examined on site.

The delegation of the Women’s Branch of the Turkish-Chinese Association and SESA Institute held contacts with representatives from different countries within the framework of the programme and conducted important discussions in the fields of women’s leadership, education diplomacy, cultural interaction, and international academic cooperation.

During the seminar process, academic studies and institutional activities prepared by the Turkish-Chinese Association and SESA Institute were also shared with participants; evaluations were made regarding the development of academic, cultural, and institutional cooperation between Türkiye and China.

Within the framework of the programme, detailed briefings were provided on China Women’s University’s work in the fields of international women’s leadership and capacity building; the university’s global programmes carried out in cooperation with the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) were presented to participants.

As SESA Institute and the Turkish-Chinese Association, we remain firmly committed to supporting the stronger representation of women on international platforms, developing the social, academic, and cultural dimensions of Türkiye–China relations, and strengthening sustainable institutional cooperation between the two countries.
